What is The Big Ideas Challenge?

The Big Ideas Challenge Event has been purposefully designed in collaboration with educators to engage young people in a fun and fast paced day of listening, learning and doing.

This event will provide your young people with the opportunity to hear from some of Mackay's inspirational innovators and changemakers, as well as explicitly developing their entrepreneurial thinking and human centred design skills.

The event will be delivered across two key sessions:

  1. During the first half of the day, students will engage with inspirational speakers on a variety of relevant and topical areas; including the entrepreneurial mindset, overcoming challenges, failure and how to navigate the shifting ‘future of work’ as a young person today.
  2. The Big Ideas Challenge isn’t just about listening and learning, it’s also about doing. In the second half of the day, students will rapidly prototype their own innovative, scalable and sustainable solutions that make the world a better place. Run by Future Anything, an award winning entrepreneurship program for young people, this highly engaging, fun and hands on workshop will build the capacity of your young people to:

    • Engage with design thinking methodology to solve problems, including emphasising, ideating, validating, prototyping and pitching.
    • Lead self and others.
    • Collaborate and project manage.
    • Be engaging storytellers; pitching (and persuading) with purpose
